Where It Started: IT

Gert Mellak's career didn't start in marketing. It started in IT - building systems, understanding infrastructure, thinking in terms of processes and automation. That technical foundation would turn out to be the most valuable thing he carried into everything that came after.

20 Years in Marketing

In the early 2000s, Gert moved into digital marketing and founded SEOLeverage - an SEO agency that would become one of the longest-running in Europe. Over the next two decades, he worked with more than 500 clients across industries: technology, healthcare, insurance, professional services, real estate, e-commerce. Companies like Regus, Musaat, and Mutuasport. Businesses in Spain, Germany, the UK, the US, and Latin America.

He developed the ERICA Framework - a proprietary SEO methodology that became the basis for his published book and his contributions to Search Engine Land, one of the industry's most respected publications. He built a team, built systems, and built a reputation for marketing that was accountable to revenue, not vanity metrics.

While most marketers were discovering AI in 2023, Gert had been quietly integrating it into his agency for years. It started with automating competitive research - work that used to take a senior analyst days could be done in hours. Then content analysis. Then reporting. Then client dashboards.
